The skies over Sri Lanka will light up from March 22 for two weeks as the Sri Lanka Balloon Festival 2008 takes off.
Over 70 international ballooning enthusiasts, mainly from the UK, Ireland, Japan and Saudi Arabia, are taking part this year.
The events will commence with ‘Night Glow’ on March 22 when 22 balloons will be on display in Colombo. The main events – the ballooning over Sri Lankan landscape - is taking place in Hambantota in the south of Sri Lanka (from March 26-30). The week from March 31 onwards, the balloons will fly over the cultural triangle, in Sigiriya. The Festival was inaugurated in 2003.
