Dubai, U.A.E - 26 January 2010 - The Bamboo Lagoon restaurant which underwent a two-month restoration is now open for business. An exotic, Asian tropical themed restaurant of huts, bridges and waterways serving Far Eastern cuisine, Bamboo Lagoon is a family style restaurant where a new dining experience awaits you.
Step into Bamboo Lagoon and your senses will be awakened with the aroma of flavours from Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and the Polynesian islands.
A Polynesian band complements the nightly buffet, live cooking stations and the bar with its signature tiki ware and exotic cocktails.
“The interior design is refreshing and appealing,” said Wael Soueid, the general manager of JW Marriott Dubai.
“Within Bamboo Lagoon is a Natural Rock Wall alive with rivulets of water dripping into pools below amongst ferns & flora. Freshwater pools reflect dancing shadows and light onto the lava rock, bamboo & ceiling above. Large Tiki warriors guard the entrance heightening senses to possible danger and to the exotic nuances waiting inside. Water reflections up-spotting, candles and random fire play on top Teppan tables creating a dynamic lighting. Bridges, stairs and walkways connect separate, different level dining huts. Solid dining furnishings rich in handmade quality, carvings, and artifacts are located throughout the restaurant with a view of the band. Cultural pieces are placed where eyes can accidentally discover their presence. Floors surrounding the kitchens & bar are of polished black basalt, beyond lies darkened teak solid plank flooring. Bamboo beamed thatch roofing create an ambiance of village huts in an outdoor tropical environment. The floors consist of darkened teak solid plank flooring, stone and rugs with tribal designs of Polynesia” added Wael.
Service is friendly with Asian and Polynesian hospitality touch points in both welcome greeting and departure. At each station, guests are offered different dining experiences as the signature dishes are freshly made in front of the guest and if desired, customized to order. Small parties are encouraged in the restaurant where the entertainers will come to the table side to perform a dance for special occasions. Service both from the culinary team and the table side service staff is welcoming and familiar. Names are remembered and give first time guests a feeling that they have been ‘regulars.
Asian cuisine featuring full action stations and buffet presentations is what makes Bamboo Lagoon unique. Live action stations include a Dual Mongolian/Teppan Grill Table with self serve condiment selections. Also featuring are Wok, Noodle, Peking Duck and Dim Sum Station. Dessert stations display sweet temptations and tropical fruits from the Asian countries. Sake and green tea are available with a stand alone Sushi Bar.
Although pre-made fare is available from the stations, they are dishes offered in individual portions which are not only a feast to the eyes but an enjoyment to the palate. The selection and variety is authentic.
A full Tropical Bar with hand crafted beverages utilizing fresh fruit juices gives Bamboo Lagoon an impression of fascination and charm. Teas and Coffees are custom as well.
“Bamboo Lagoon is elemental, exotic and enticing. Even the uniforms blend in with an Asian design,” said Wael.
The hotel’s Executive Chef Damien Chorley and its team have combed the kitchens of Asia to bring you the ‘Best of Asia.’ Diners will be spoilt for choices.
