Banyan Tree Holdings has announced its expansion plans for 2011, with the launch of five new properties under its Banyan Tree and Angsana brands. The new openings include the Banyan Tree Riverside in Shanghai, a modern low-rise hotel and courtyard-style villas assembled from old houses from different regions of China. Located on the Huangpu riverfront, the new property is a 30-minute drive from downtown Shanghai. Also in China, the Angsana Hangzhou will form part of the integrated Xixi Paradise development in the Xixi National Wetland Park. Located next to the existing Banyan Tree Hangzhou, the contemporary hotel will feature 59 rooms.
Also opening in 2011 will be the 246-suite Banyan Tree Macau, forming part of the Galaxy Macau integrated resort complex and the 50-suite and villa Angsana Balaclava in Mauritius, while the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket will be rebranded and reopened as the Angsana Phuket following a US$30 million refurbishment. Also undergoing a major refurbishment is the Angsana Bintan.
