Banyan Tree to launch ‘Club & Spa’ brand in Seoul

Seoul, South Korea – Bringing its renowned sanctuary of the senses to South Korea, award-winning Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts is looking forward to the opening of Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul in late March 2010. Positioned to be Seoul’s leading urban resort, Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul is the frst Korean property launch from Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, and also the first ‘Club & Spa’ brand concept in the Group. Located an hour’s drive from Incheon International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown Seoul, Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul combines a resort hotel and private club experience, catering to discerning club members, as well as business and leisure visitors to Seoul.
This urban resort nestled in Mt. Namsan, the heart of Seoul, invites travellers and city dwellers alike to an escape from the hectic bustle of the city. Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul occupies the former Tower Hotel building, a historically significant cultural landmark designed and built in 1967 to commemorate the Korean War by architect Kim Swoo Geun who also designed the Seoul Olympic Stadium. Additionally, it encompasses two more buildings in order to offer its guests and visitors a holistic lifestyle setting comprising The Hotel, The Club, The Festa, and a myriad of outdoor facilities.
The Hotel
Comprising 21 storeys, The Hotel block is the highly anticipated accommodation tower, where all 16 Pool Rooms and 16 Pool Suites are equipped with plunge pools measuring 8sqm to 22sqm. With a minimum floor space of 50sqm ranging up to 105sqm, these units are beautifully inspired by the five oriental elements of water, fire, metal, wood and earth, and will also be dressed according to the four seasons of spring, summer, fall and winter. The two double-storey Presidential Suites, measuring 280sqm and 315 sqm respectively, provide panoramic views from four angles overlooking the tranquil Namsan Park and Seoul city. The Hotel block is exclusively catered to guest privacy as it holds a maximum of four rooms per floor.
The highest point of The Hotel is the magnificent Wine Sky Bar, which showcases the property’s panoramic views from an al fresco bar. Accompanied by the skyline of Seoul city, guests imbibe modern tapas, top quality oysters, gourmet cheese platters, farmed caviar and vintage wine selection. For fans of the brand, Banyan Tree will also be providing an exclusive Romantic Destination Dining experience, where couples or friends can enjoy a customised meal in a delightful cabana in the midst of nature.
The Hotel is also the location for a banquet hall, ideal for weddings, private parties, business meetings and conference, while the boardroom caters for intimate groups of up to 15 for meetings and other events. An all day dining restaurant is located immediately next to the reception, providing Asian a la carte dishes and a genteel outlet for satisfying hunger pangs.
The Club
The Club is a members-oriented venue within Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul for enriching its members’ well-being, relaxation and diverse social activities. It has almost endless facilities, including the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa, pioneer of the Asia tropical garden spa concept, which offers holistic Asian therapies in a refined space. Exclusively for members, other facilities include the members’ lounge, Korean sauna with hot/cold tub, indoor swimming pool, and an indoor and outdoor fitness centre providing cardiovascular workouts, weight training, personal trainers, yoga classes, body building classes and more.
A total of 16 Club Rooms and Club Suites are specially catered in this building for use by members, with facilities such as an enhanced kids’ club where child members can enjoy fun-filled and educational programmes, and a Mediterranean restaurant for all to enjoy comfort cuisine, local and international dishes and weekend brunches.
The Festa
Guests are further spoilt for choice at The Festa, the surprising venue to enjoy cultural and social events, thanks to its centrepiece of an expansive outdoor swimming pool, dubbed The Oasis, which perfectly complements Namsan’s natural ambiance and is transformed into a magical ice rink and snow sled field in winter, displaying European flair.
