Beijing failing pollution test
Beijing is still along way off meeting international air standard, according to a BBC investigation. The corporation has conducted a study using hand-held air quality monitors has shown that levels of airborne particles are still higher than World Health Organisation (WHO) standards on six days out of seven. China has recently announced the closure of 40 factories near Beijing in the run-up to the Olympics, but with just a month to go before the start of Games the city appears to be a long way off achieving its clean-air goals.
