Greenpeacehave said that Beijinghas met the majority of its environmental commitments, the China Daily hasreported. “We are glad to see that Beijing hasimproved its infrastructure in preparation for the Olympics,” said Lo Sze Ping,Greenpeace China’sCampaign Director. “It has made public transport more convenient, upgraded homeheating systems, improved water treatment and, to some degree, reduced itsreliance on fossil fuels,” he added.
Thereport acknowledged Beijing’sincreased use of energy efficient technologies and renewable energy, includinggeothermal heating systems and the introduction of wind and solar power.
