Best Western has launched its first ever hotel in the Malaysian UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Melaka.
The Best Western Wana Riverside Hotel offers 170 rooms, all including complimentary Wi-Fi and views of the Malacca Strait. Facilities include the Riverside Café, a sports bar and meeting facilities for up to 400 people.
“Rich in history, culture and diverse cuisine, Melaka which dates back to 1400 is truly unique in what it has to offer. The city, a melting pot of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences reflects the essence of a modern Malaysia. We are proud to be part of this rich heritage city and we expect this booming destination to become a key member of our global family,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western’s Vice President International Operations for Asia & the Middle East. “We hope to be able to help cater for a new wave of business and leisure tourists attracted to this historical city.”
The new Melaka hotel marks Best Western’s second new opening in Malaysia this year, following the recent launch of the 364-room Best Western Premier Dua Sentral in Kuala Lumpur.
Then from next year, Best Western’s Malaysian expansion will gather pace, with new properties expected to open in Ipoh, Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, and a second hotel in KL. In total, Best Western will operate 15 properties in Malaysia by Q1 2015, offering more than 1,700 rooms across nine destinations.
