Best Western has launched its first hotel in the Indonesian city of Semarang.
The newly-built 28-storey Best Western Star Hotel is located in the centre of the Central Java city, and offers views of the city and Java Sea from its 258 rooms. Facilities include a restaurant, a rooftop infinity-edged swimming pool and bar, and extensive conference and banqueting space, with nine meeting rooms and a 180-pax capacity ballroom.
“This year we plan to add at least 12 new hotels to our Indonesian collection, encompassing many of the country’s fast-growing cities,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western’s vice president of international operations for Asia & the Middle East. “Semarang, with its expanding population of more than a million people and increasing importance as a region business hub, is one of these cities.”
Best Western is planning to more than quadruple its portfolio in Indonesia over the next three years, with new hotels planned in destinations including Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Samarinda and Banjarmasin.
