Best Western has reached another landmark in its Asian expansion, with the launch of its first ever hotel in Sri Lanka.
Following the company’s debut in Myanmar late last year, Best Western has now arrived in another fast-emerging regional market with the launch of the brand new Best Western Elyon Hotel in Colombo.
Officially opening its doors on 1 July 2014, the city hotel is located on Marine Drive and will offer 60 rooms, all of which come equipped with 32-inch LCD TVs, iPod docking stations and free Wi-Fi.
The hotel will also feature a restaurant and a rooftop bar and terrace, plus a boardroom capable of hosting up to 30 people, a business centre and fitness centre.
“With fast-paced GDP growth and a burgeoning tourism industry, there is no doubt that Sri Lanka is one of Asia’s new ‘tiger economies’,” said Glenn de Souza, Best Western’s vice president of international operations for Asia & Middle East.
“With economic growth similar to that of China and international visitor arrivals rising in double-digits, this wonderful country holds tremendous opportunities for both business and leisure travellers.
“I am delighted to be able to introduce Best Western’s world-famous values of comfort, connectivity and excellent service to travelers in this dynamic destination,” he added.
Best Western’s arrival in Sri Lanka boosts its Asian portfolio to more than 200 Best Western hotels either operating or in the pipeline in 24 countries.
And the company’s Sri Lankan expansion is likely to continue in future. Earlier this year Best Western signed an agreement with Elyon Hotels that could potentially lead to more developments across the country.
