Biman Bangladesh Airlines has announced that it will launch flights between Dhaka and Manchester next month. The Bangladeshi national carrier will operate twice weekly services (Wednesdays and Saturdays) on the route from 2 November 2011, using its new Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, with 35 seats in Business Class and 384 in Economy. “It’s a dream come true for both Biman and the large Bangladeshi community residing in the northern part of the UK,” said Mohammed Salahuddin, Biman’s Regional Manager for Northern UK said. “We will be the only airline to operate non-stop flights between UK and Bangladesh,” he added. Biman is currently expanding its fleet, with orders for a further nine Boeing aircraft, including three B777-300ERs, four B787-8 Dreamliners and two 737-800s, worth an estimated US$1.4 billion.
