British Midland International (bmi) has added nearly 3,000 seats each week on its Heathrow to Aberdeen service. From 1 August, bmi will operate larger aircraft to several of its daily flights between the two cities following a growing corporate and leisure demand. Extended use of the airline’s A319 fleet will see a 90% increase in seta capacity each day. “Many of our customers, especially on early morning services, want the flexibility to fly bmi into Heathrow and then onto other destinations on our network including Baku and Moscow. These changes will make it much easier for them to do that, on time and in comfort,” explained bmi Sales and Marketing Director Katherine Gershon. “bmi is strongly committed to growing the London Heathrow – Aberdeen market and adding extra seats will help to meet demand from corporate customers, as well as the ever-growing demand for onward flights,” she added. Gershon also reveled that demand has also increased for bmi’s American codeshare flights, such as Houston, following Continental joining Star Alliance last year.
