bmi has cancelled flights to Tripoli and selected Beirut flights but maintained its services to Syria, the airline announced today. The carrier said on its website it would continue to fly to Damascus, Syria but it has cancelled its BD903 and BD904 schedules to and from Beirut until and including 20 April. Meanwhile its flights to Tripoli remain cancelled until 7 May following unrest in Libya and bmi confirmed that passengers with tickets up to 30 July can rebook their seats onto another service. Bookings until 31 June can be cancelled of refunded. The carrier has also added a fuel stop to its Heathrow-Tehran service following restricted oil supplies in Iran. In addition, bmi Regional has increased its frequency on popular Scottish routes for summer 2011. The carrier will operate more flights between Edinburgh and Copenhagen on Friday and Sunday, with an additional Monday and Friday service on the Edinburgh-Zurich route. An extra Saturday flight has also been added to the Glasgow-Copenhagen service from 3 June to 28 August. “As the home of bmi Regional, we are strongly committed to Scotland and adding extra rotations to these popular routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow will help meet the increasing demand from corporate and leisure customers this summer,” said Steven Griffiths, business director of bmi Regional.
