Boeing’s newest commercial aircraft model, the 747-8 Intercontinental, made its international debut when it touched down at the Paris Air Show on Sunday.
Senior Boeing leaders, US government officials, show organisers and media were on hand to welcome the aircraft when they arrived at Le Bourget after a 10-hour flight from Seattle. The plane took off at 2.38pm Seattle time and landed at 9.30am Paris time. The 747-8 Intercontinental flew at Mach 0.85 and travelled approximately 4,400 nautical miles (8,149km).
The 747-8 Intercontinental is the newest member of the 747 family. The aircraft, one of five Boeing jetliners that will be on display at Paris, will be at the show until Tuesday 21 June, when it will return to flight test activity.
