Booking Holdings agrees to acquire HotelsCombined

Booking Holdings' global metasearch brand Kayak to oversee HotelsCombined

Booking Holdings Inc. has announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire hotel metasearch site, HotelsCombined. Based in Sydney, Australia with a strong presence in APAC and thousands of active affiliates worldwide, HotelsCombined will report into Booking Holdings’ travel metasearch brand, KAYAK.

HotelsCombined’s background

HotelsCombined was founded in 2005. The acquisition has been approved by HotelsCombined’s board of directors and stockholders and is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory approval and satisfaction of closing conditions.

This acquisition will be added to Booking Holdings’ portfolio of online travel products and related services, which spans a base of customers and partners in over 220 countries.

These are delivered through six primary brands: booking.com priceline.com, agoda.com, Rentalcars.com and OpenTable – the restaurant reservation platform – and Kayak, the metasearch provider andindependently managed subsidiary of Booking Holdings that will oversee HotelsCombined moving forward.

Kayak searches other sites to show users information and prices about flights, hotels, car hires and holiday packages. The company also offers travel and planning tools such as Kayak Trips, Explore and Price Forecast, and integrations with Facebook Messenger, Slack bots and Alexa skills.

Already in the Kayak portfolio are worldwide brands including momondo, Cheapflights, SWOODOO and checkfelix that together process more than 2 billion consumer queries a year.
