BP Travel Marketing Services’ managing director Paul Markland has announced his retirement after 42 years with the business.
Markland, 63, will leave the company on 23 December after joining during its inception in 1972.
He held several roles at the firm including general manager and then became managing director in 1989, leading BP to a leader in brochure distribution. He also led the formation of BP’s parent Orbital Marketing Services Group which employed more than 500 people across 10 businesses.
Orbital was then sold to Menzies Distribution in November 2012.
Markland said: “I’ll be 64 next year so the time has come to slow down a bit. I’m proud of having been part of broadening BP Travel Marketing Services into the successful Orbital Marketing Services Group. By my reckoning we’ve distributed well over three billion brochures and mailshots in my time that have influenced the holiday and travel arrangements of hundreds of millions of people.”
Robert Fallow will take over as managing director and joins BP from Vets Now where he is managing director. Fallow’s previous roles include UK marketing director for Reebok, group director of marketing at Orange and managing director of Franklin Electronic Publishers.
