A new prime coastal destination is set to open on mainland Greece this May boasting the destination’s first signature golf course and a spa offering treatments inspired by ancient Greek medicine and philosophy.
Costa Navarino is a seaside resort set amid olive groves in the Messinia region, southwest Peloponnese and where all properties built will be made to meet strict environmental specifications.
The first phase of the development will be the 130-acre Navarino Dunes site featuring two Starwood hotels – The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort and The Westin Resort – both of which will be featured by tour operators Sovereign and Thomas Cook initially.
Both properties have been designed as low-rise villa clusters inspired by old Messinian mansions, using natural stone and local architectural features.
The second phase, Navarino Bay, will open in 2012 and will showcase Banyan Tree’s first European property – an all-pool-villa resort with an 18-hole signature golf course, as well as another five-star hotel, which will be announced shortly.
Two further phases, Navarino Hills and Navarino Blue, will open at a later date.
