A bomb threat has reportedly been made on an Etihad Airways plane travelling from Egypt to the UAE, forcing the plane to divert.
Etihad said the flight from Cairo to Abu Dhabi would land at a Dubai airbase for “security reasons”.
The Airbus A321 was carrying 128 passengers and seven crew, according to an Etihad Airways spokesman.
Flight EY650 had departed from Cairo at 3.49am, but a security alert was sounded ajust over two hours after take-off.
“A security alert was received by Etihad Airways at approximately 8.00am (UAE time), at which time the aircraft was diverted,” the spokesman added.
Saudi-owned al Arabiya channel is stating it was a bomb threat.
Etihad said it would aid passengers with onward flights at Abu Dhabi airport.
