Post a successful implementation of the BritAgent online training program in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, VisitBritain has launched the program in Qatar.
The tourism authority wants to ensure that travel agents in Qatar are fully aware of all attractions the UK has to offer so that they can help their customers capitalise on available opportunities.
“Britain is already a major beneficiary of outbound travel from the Gulf region,” said Dubai-based Sumathi Ramanathan, APME regional manager of VisitBritain. “Visitors from the Gulf region are a major source of revenue for the United Kingdom; from January to September 2012, these visitors spent nearly AED5.5bn, already showing a seven percent increase over 2011. From 2006 through 2011, Qatar has shown an outstanding increase in visitor numbers of 59% and the spend per night significantly outshines all the other countries.”
The BritAgent Specialist Programme is VisitBritain’s global online training initiative and has been designed to meet needs of travel trade ‘front-liners’ from new starters to experienced sales personnel. The program that’s already available in the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia celebrates 464 BritAgent graduates to date.
