British Airways has announced the launch of new routes and frequencies from London City Airport. The carrier’s wholly-owned subsidiary, BA CityFlyer will launch a four-times-a-week service from London City to Faro, on Portugal’s Algarve coast, as well as flying three times a week to the southern Spanish city of Malaga. Meanwhile, BA’s existing London City-Nice service has been increased to double daily for the summer season, while from July to September the Palma and Ibiza routes will be increased from four to 10 flights a week. All flights are operated by BA CityFlyer’s new Embraer aircraft. In addition, British Airways is to increase its flights from Heathrow to Riyadh. A sixth weekly flight will be added to the route at the end of October for the winter season. “June marks two years since we resumed flights to the Kingdom, during which time we have enjoyed strong business in all cabins,” said Paolo De Renzis, regional commercial manager Middle East at BA. “The need for an additional service to Riyadh is a clear indication that demand continues to grow and we are delighted to announce this additional service re-affirming our long term commitment to the market”.
