British Airways recently announced that effective 30 June all flights to and from Cairo will move to London Heathrow’s Terminal 5.
The announcement is part of a plan by the airline to consolidate all its flights into London Heathrow from three terminals into two terminals – Terminal 3 and 5, by end of 2015.
“We believe moving Egyptian flights to Terminal 5 is a positive step that will offer customers an enhanced travel experience with access to our new lounges and shopping outlets,” said Mervat Alfy, commercial manager for British Airways in North Africa.
He further added that, “The move to Terminal 5 will also increase operational efficiency, while the shift between terminals will also offer improved connection timings. Following relocation of majority of our operations to Terminal 5 in 2015, we will continue to develop our offerings at the terminal.”
British Airways operates a daily flight from Cairo to London. The GBP 4.2 billion T5 terminal offers advanced baggage system, lounges that can host up to 2,500 people, 112 stores and restaurants.
