British pensioner sparks low-speed police chase
Police in Essex, UK, were led on 27-mile low-speed chase by a 76-year old pensioner until she was stopped by a jogging policeman knocking on her car window. A defiant Carol Turner refused ignored the sound of sirens and the sight of blue flashing lights in her rear-view mirror as she made her way home last week. She drew police attention when she drove in the wrong direction on a roundabout and dawdled down a two-lane road at 10-20mph. She finally stopped when a policeman jumped out of his car and ran up alongside her, tapping on the window and asking her to pullover. Ms Turner replied; “Why, what have I done? There is nothing to discuss. I’m going home.” According to The Telegraph newspaper, she has been fined and banned from driving for 12 months.
