Brunei has marked the opening of a new city landmark. The new Bandar Seri Begawan Waterfront Promenade was officially opened on 28 May by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince of Brunei, and is expected to bring new life to the Brunei capital’s downtown area.
Built at a cost of BN$5.6 million (US$4.5 million), the Waterfront Promenade includes restaurants, colourful night lighting and open areas for recreational activities and events. It has been developed around the old Royal Customs House – a heritage building that will be used by the Museums Department as a new exhibition gallery.
