Brussels Airlines and THAI agree codeshare on Brussels-Bangkok route
Brussels Airlines is now offering passengers the option to fly direct from Brussels to Bangkok as a result of a codeshare agreement with Thai Airways International.
Thailand is one of the most popular Asian holiday destinations on the Belgian travel market. The recent agreement between the two airlines enables Brussels Airlines to place its SN code on the flights operated by Thai Airways International (THAI) in the distribution channels and hence, to sell tickets.
Since last year THAI has flown three times a week direct to and from Brussels Airport from Bangkok. All flights are operated by Thai Airways International with Boeing 777 aircraft. Brussels Airlines passengers can also earn and spend frequent flyer miles whenever they travel on this codeshare scheduled service. Both Brussels Airlines and THAI are members of the global airline company Star Alliance.
“Ever since Brussels Airlines joined Star Alliance in 2009, we have been developing our home-base Brussels Airport into a true Star Alliance hub”, said Brussels Airlines Executive Vice President – Commercial Erik Follet. “This new cooperation with our Star Alliance partner Thai Airways is another example of this.”
Padit Chanapai, THAI Executive Vice President – Commercial announced “It is with great pleasure that we begin code-share flights with Brussels Airlines, particularly after THAI began direct flights from Bangkok to Brussels on 17 November 2011. As the operating carrier, the code-share agreement between the two carriers will offer passengers greater choice and access in travelling to and from Bangkok and Brussels, with access to other parts of the European Union as well as parts of Southeast Asia.”
The codeshare flights from Bangkok take off every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0030hrs and arrive at 0740hrs in Brussels. The Brussels to Bangkok flights, also flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays depart Brussels at 1330hrs and arrive in Bangkok at 0535hrs the next day.
