Dubai’s Burj Al Arab will kick off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on 17 March in the UAE while becoming the latest iconic building to celebrate Ireland’s National Day. Burj Al Arab will join other world renowned structures like the Empire State Building in New York, Table Mountain in Cape Town, CN Tower in Toronto and the London Eye to illuminate the night sky with a green glow on St. Patrick’s Day.The greening of the iconic buildings around the world is an initiative started last year and led by Tourism Ireland. Amanda Burns, GM of Tourism Ireland, Middle East and Asia, said: “St Patrick’s Day is a truly unique opportunity to showcase Ireland and celebrate the diversity of our culture and heritage and the friendliness of our people, to a huge audience across the globe. Our aim on this day is to connect everyone and to bring a smile to the world. We are honoured and delighted that Burj Al Arab will be part of this celebration.” UAE residents are invited to join the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations and sample Irish culture in a series of free orchestral performances by the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland in Dubai, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi from 17 to19 March.
