The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has updated its flight extra charges information to help those looking to book last minute flights this summer.
The CAA has updated its airline and airport comparison tables so customers can see how much allocated seating, in-flight medals and hold baggage costs as well as airport development fees and optional airport charges.
The authority said it is also working with airlines to reinforce the law that unavoidable fees and charges are included in the price of a ticket from the start of booking.
“More than 20 million passengers are set to use the UK’s airports this month, flying to a wide range of destinations for business, leisure or to visit friends and relatives. This diversity is one of the UK aviation market’s major strengths, but if passengers are to really benefit from this choice they must have the full picture about the potential cost of their flight,” said the CAA’s director of consumer support Sandra Webber.
The information update comes as more airlines change their baggage policies and fees as they compete for business. Once adding extra charges, also known as ancillary services, flights with traditional carriers can sometimes become cheaper than low-cost airlines.
