California tourist board opens Korea branch
As the US visa waiver programme for Koreans took effect, the California Travel and Tourism Commission has announced the official opening of its Korea office in Seoul, the Korea Herald has reported. The Commission also announced the release of an official Korean website and tour guide books in Korean to promote travels to the state.
“We are excited to celebrate the visa waiver program and especially the opening of the California Travel and Tourism Commission office today,” said Susan Wilcox, the Commission’s Vice President of Communications and Industry Relations.
The number of Koreans travelling to California rose to around 331,000 in 2007, taking up nearly 40% f the entire number of Koreans travelling to the US.
