Cambodia will ask UNESCO to list the Sambo Prey Kuk temple, in Kompong province, Xinhua reported. The temple, which was built between 615 and 650AD, aims to add to Cambodia’s other World Heritage sites at Angkor and Preah Vihear.
“We are preparing the proposal for UN to register the temple, which was built during the rule of Khmer King Isanverman I, with the Committee of World Heritage,” Som Sokhun, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, was quoted saying.
The government has to organize a master plan for development and conservation of the temple, he added.
