Carlson Hotels Worldwide is planning to double its presence in China within the next three years, primarily by focusing on key secondary and tertiary cities. The group has nine properties, totalling more than 2,600 rooms, under development for its Radisson Hotels & Resorts and Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brands. Carlson also operates three other leading hotel brands throughout Asia Pacific; Regent Hotels & Resorts, Park Inn and Country Inns & Suites By Carlson.
“While we continue to value new opportunities in tier one cities, the lack of branded hotels in many of China’s secondary and tertiary cities which are on a rapid growth trajectory, calls for us to grow our presence in these less traditional markets,” said Jean-Marc Busato, Managing Director - Asia Pacific, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
In the first quarter of this year, Carlson signed agreements to manage hotels in three of China’s fastest growing cities – Shenyang, Chongqing and Sanya.
Carlson currently has eight hotels in operation including The Regent Beijing, the luxury flagship property for the group in China. This month, Carlson also opens the 270-room Radisson Plaza Hotel Tianjin, which is strategically located in the new financial hub of the Hedong District in Tianjin (pictured).
