Carnival Corporation has officially opened its first office in Singapore. The building, which will house Carnival Asia’s headquarters, will oversee the company’s expansion into the region.
The event was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony with Carnival Asia Chairman and CEO Pier Luigi Foschi, the former head of Costa Cruises. The cutting was followed by a formal reception and dinner attended by government officials, local dignitaries and the CEO and President of CLIA Christine Duffy.
“Asia is one of the world’s fastest-growing cruise regions, and the establishment of our regional office in Singapore underscores Carnival Corporation & plc’s significant step towards developing these markets,” said Mr Foschi. “We intend to capitalise on our global expertise and work closely with our valued partners in order to grow the benefits of cruising in the region.”
“The market potential for cruising in Asia is huge as the total potential number of cruise passengers can reach 3.7 million in 2017, and this number can double to over seven million by 2020,” he added.
