Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific has said that passenger growth for October was much lower than its increase in capacity during the month, ChannelNews Asia has reported.
The airline said in a statement that it and its sister carrier, Dragonair, carried a total of 2,091,339 passengers in October, up 2.6% year-on-year, but some way behind its 11.6% growth in capacity. For the year to October, the number of passengers rose 9.2%, compared with a 14.2% rise in capacity.
Tom Owen, Cathay’s General Manager – Revenue Management, said that the usual October corporate travel peak “didn’t materialise this year”.
