Chennai airport will complete its INR1,212 crore expansion project by the end of this year. Officials said 86% of the work has been completed and that construction of a triangular glass tube to accommodate a walkalator is on-going. The Airport Authority of India is waiting for the alignment designs of the airport metro station from the Chennai Metro Rail Limited as the walkalator will have a link with the station. The walkalator will pass below a kilometre-long flyover structure connecting the airport’s two terminals.
