China Airlines extends pilot recruitment
China Airlines (CAL) is expanding its recruitment of pilots to cater for new route launches and aircraft deliveries.
The Taipei-based plans to recruit 120 pilots in 2012, comprising 60 trainee pilots and 60 experienced captains. To speed up the recruitment process, CAL is opening up this year’s trainee programme to university students who will be graduating within a year.
Applicants who successfully complete six rounds of interviews and tests will be sent abroad for a year of basic flight training, before returning to Taiwan to complete a year-long airline pilot training course.
Boeing revealed that this week that the world will need an extra 460,000 new pilots over the next 20 years, 40% of which will be hired by airlines in the Asia Pacific region.
