China Airlines to seek additional China services

China Airlines jumped 6.2% toNT$9.59, its highest since April 16, while Eva Airways Corp.,Taiwan’ssecond-largest airline, surged 6.7% to NT$10, its highest since April 22. Thebenchmark Taiexindex climbed 5.6% at 9:54 a.m.
President MaYing-jeou said the number of direct flights between China and Taiwan should be increased to 540 aweek from 270, the Taipei Times reported on May 2.
Most cross-strait flightsoperate at between 90 and 95% capacity, and the quality of service may sufferwithout additional flights, the report said, citing Ma, who spoke at a meeting with a groupof overseas Taiwanese from the U.S.at his office yesterday.
Taiwan and China on April 26 agreed to morethan double the weekly scheduled flights to 270 from 108.
