China Airlines has launched its new VIP lounge at Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport.
The new lounge is based on the design of a classical Chinese garden and reflects the interiors of CAL’s new fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft – the first of which was delivered in September.
Located on the fourth floor of Terminal 1, the new lounge covers more than 1,000m² and includes 222 seats. The space in divided into a series of areas, including a VIP zone, lounge area, internet zone, sleeping quarters and dining room with tea bar. Amenities include showers, a breast-feeding room and free Wi-Fi access. The lounge’s meals are catered by Novotel.
Led by designer Ray Chen, the lounge took around six months to complete. According to CAL, the design concept is “inspired by Song dynasty aesthetics with the conceptual use of southern China-style garden”. There is a living wall of plants and carved wooden door to reflect the garden environment.
It becomes CAL’s third lounge at Taoyuan Airport, joining the VIP lounge in Terminal 2 and the Supreme Lounge.
