China Eastern installs fast Wi-Fi on new long-haul jets

China Eastern Airlines has selected a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi solution for its new fleet of long-haul aircraft.
The Shanghai-based carrier has signed a deal with Panasonic Avionics to install the latest eX3 IFE system and eXConnect Wi-Fi service on its fleet of 35 new Airbus A350s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
China Eastern already offers Panasonic’s Wi-Fi service on its domestic flights and has started rolling out the broadband solution on its international routes. With this latest deal, China Eastern’s entire long-haul fleet will be equipped with Panasonic’s high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi.
“China Eastern Airlines understands the needs of our customers for a premium in-flight experience. Our partnership with Panasonic has proved extremely successful and we look forward to continue strengthening our relationship with Panasonic Avionics,” said Xulun Ma, CEO of China Eastern Airlines.
Panasonic’s eXConnect system uses a satellite network to deliver high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi across the world, including over oceans. This will help China Eastern’s passengers stay connected on the airline’s long trans-Pacific flights to North America.
