China Eastern Airlines will become the first Chinese carrier to offer in-flight Wi-Fi on its international flights this month.
Commencing on 12 November 2015, the Shanghai-based airline will roll out satellite-based Wi-Fi services on its trans-Pacific flights to New York, Los Angeles and Toronto. The service will then be expanded to all other North American routes, including Vancouver and San Francisco, in December this year.
The service is being made available on China Eastern’s fleet of Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330 aircraft, and will be free for an initial trial period.
The airline is also planning to install Wi-Fi on its other aircraft, including single-aisle jets operating key domestic routes from its home base in Shanghai.
