Commencing on 9 December, China Eastern Airlines will launch four weekly flights to Auckland from Shanghai.
China Eastern will become the second Chinese carrier to fly to Auckland, following Guangzhou-based China Southern Airlines.
The carrier will operate the nonstop flights four times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, before increasing the frequency to daily services on 16 January next year.
Flights will depart Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 0005, arriving at Auckland International Airport at 1815. The return service will take off from Auckland at 2200, and get back to Shanghai at 0530 the next day. The service will be operated using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
Currently the Auckland-Shanghai route is only served by Air New Zealand, which will upgrade the daily service using its Boeing 787-9 aircraft from 14 December.
