China Southern Airlines will extend its daily Sydney operations from the peak Christmas-New Year period until the end of March, 2010, to accommodate continued strong demand.
The airline recently increased from five weekly flights to daily frequencies until 20 February, but will now operate daily until 27 March - the end of the current Northern winter schedule period.
“Demand for flights from Australia to China continues to be buoyant well beyond the Christmas-New Year period,” said James Liu, Regional Manager Australia for China Southern Airlines.
“Our flights from Sydney to the gateway city of Guangzhou, in Southern China, are proving to be increasingly popular for business and leisure passengers from Australia as well as members of the Chinese community travelling for the Chinese New Year period,” said Mr Liu.
“This increased demand is very encouraging for our airline and a positive sign for the travel industry,” he said.
In addition to daily services from Sydney, China Southern also operates three weekly nonstop flights from Melbourne to Guangzhou.
All flights from Australia by China Southern Airlines are operated with dual class Airbus A330-200 aircraft seating 264 passengers in a two class cabin - 24 in Business Class and 240 in Economy Class.
From, Guangzhou, the airline offers onward services throughout China, as well as to other markets in Asia and long haul destinations including the Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
As a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, China Southern can also offer onward travel with partner airlines from China or other destinations.
China Southern is one of 11 full members of SkyTeam, serving a global network of 856 destinations.
