China Southern gets government aid

China Southern Airlines’ state-owned parent company has received CNY3 billion (US$439 million) in government aid, as losses from fuel hedging and slowing demand hit, Bloomberg has reported. The parent of China Eastern Airlines is also reportedly seeking state aid after the airline’s losses mounted. The airlines are reported to have debts of approximately CNY70 billion, according to Bloomberg.
