China Southern Airlines has added two weekly flights from Sydney for the peak Christmas/New Year period, taking to 10 the total number of weekly departures from Australia.
Effective immediately, until 20 February, 2010, the airline will increase from five flights per week to daily departures from Sydney to Guangzhou.
China Southern has also introduced three nonstop flights per week from Melbourne to Guangzhou, replacing three flights via Sydney. This schedule will continue until 25 March.
“This is one of the busiest times of the year for travel to China, both by tourists from Australia and by members of the Chinese community,” said James Liu, Regional Manager Australia for China Southern Airlines.
“A growing number of travellers also will take advantage of our onward services throughout Asia, and beyond to destinations including Europe, the Middle East and Africa.”
All China Southern flights from Australia are operated with Airbus A330-200 aircraft seating 264 passengers in a two-class cabin - 24 in Business Class and 240 in Economy.
As a member of the expanding SkyTeam global airline alliance, China Southern can also offer onward travel with partner airlines from China or other destinations.
China Southern is one of nine full member airlines and two associate member airlines in the SkyTeam Alliance, which offers more than 13,130 flights per day to 856 destinations in 169 countries.
