A China Southern Airlines A330-300 touched down in Perth for the first time today, marking the start of the first direct service connecting Western Australia with Mainland China. The flights, operated by new Airbus A330-300 aircraft, go direct to Guangzhou and then onto Beijing. Operating three flights a week on this route, the Perth service takes the number of direct China Southern flights into Australia each week to 32.
President of the China Southern Air Holding Company, Si Xianmin said; “China Southern is unswervingly pushing forward in the process of internationalisation and our Australian strategy is key to this development.”
The move was welcomed by Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy. He said; “China Southern’s ambitious expansion plans for Australia have played a significant role in driving recent increases in the number of Chinese visitors to our country.”
