China Southern Airlines will launch a new service connecting Shenzhen with Sydney early next year.
Commencing on 20 January 2016, the new route will mark the first direct link between the two cities, and China Southern’s second long-haul service from Shenzhen’s Baoan International Airport, following an existing route to Mauritius.
Flights will operate three times a week, departing Shenzhen every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 1930 and arriving in Sydney at 0730 the following day. The return flight will leave Sydney every Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 0930, arriving back in Shenzhen at 1600.
China Southern will deploy a 284-seat, four-class Airbus A330 aircraft on the route, offering four seats in first class, 24 in business class, 48 in premium economy and 208 in economy.
In addition, the Chinese carrier will increase the frequency of its flights from Guangzhou to Melbourne and Sydney next month. Effective 5 December 2015, China Southern will add four more weekly flights on the Melbourne route, operating every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, while a third daily service will be added to the Sydney route from 10 December.
