China will add 293 more trains to cater for increased passenger demand during this year’s Chinese New Year holiday period. The China Daily reported Wang Zhiguo, the country’s Vice Minister of Railways, as saying that 25.5 million passengers are expected to make train journeys during the holiday period. On the country’s main rail routes, such as Beijing-Harbin, Beijing-Guangzhou and Shanghai-Kunming, freight services will be reduced to leave the tracks open for more passenger trains.
