China to open fourth Tibet airport

China will open its fourth civil airport Tibet next year, boosting the number of visitors to the region, Reuters reported, citing a government-run website.
The airport will be in Ngari, in the far west of Tibet close to the Indian and Pakistani borders. The airport will start trial operations next from June 2010, with commercial flights commencing in 2011, the report said. Travel time from Ngari to Lhasa will be cut from a four-day overland car trip to a two-hour flight, and official was reported saying.
