Air Guilin, a new carrier based in southern China’s scenic Guangxi region, has received its Air Operator’s Certificate and plans to commence operations later this week.
Operating under the ‘GT’ flight code, Air Guilin will take to the skies for the first time on 25 June 2016, flying from its home base of Guilin’s Liangjiang International Airport to Yinchuan, the capital of the Ningxia region, via Zhengzhou.
It will operate a fleet of Airbus A319 aircraft, and plans to expand its operations to other Chinese cities such as Jinan, Yangzhou, Shantou, Tianjin, Xi’an, Shijiazhuang and Zhangjiakou.
Air Guilin becomes the latest airline to be launched by China’s fast-expanding HNA Group, which also operates Hainan Airlines. The travel and tourism conglomerate has expanded its aviation portfolio rapidly in recent years, with the launch of several new carriers including Fuzhou Airlines, GX Airlines, Urumqi Air, and most recently, Air Changan. It also plans to create Ningbo Airlines.
