Chinese agencies look forward to US ADS
With the granting of Approved Destination Status to the US, many Chinese travel agencies are working on promoting tours to the key American cities, a report said.
China Daily said among agencies it interviewed, tours to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Diego and Hawaii, are on the agenda. They would cost an average RMB25,000 yuan (US$3,350) per person, it said.
“Although very inviting, the U.S. tour will keep some potential travellers away because of the tight visa interview procedure and the comparatively high expense,” Liu Yanwen, manager of U.S. section in China Travel Service (CTS), was quoted saying.
“Many Chinese people are curious about America as they are already familiar with it through Hollywood movies. So I am quite optimistic about the U.S. travel market,” she was quoted saying.
CTS is China’s second largest travel service.
The U.S. Department of Commerce has forecast that the number of Chinese tourists will reach 579,000 by 2011, up from 320,000 last year.
