Record air traffic boosted the profits of China’s aviation industry to CNY11.8 billion (US$1.73 billion) in the first 11 months of the year, the Shanghai Daily has reported, citing figures from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). The net profit figure is a huge improvement for Chinese airlines after the industry lost a record CNY28 billion last year. Chinese carriers flew 211.5 million passengers in the January-November 2009 period, an increase of 19.6% from a year earlier and the first time they carried more than 200 million passengers annually, the CAAC was reported saying.
