A group of Chinese investors has launched a hotel project worth around Bt1 billion in the northern province of Chiang Rai.
Chie Chou International, a Yunnan-based company, plans to construct a 300-room hotel and other facilities on the bank of the Mekong River in Chiang Khong district, Bangkok Post reported.
It said the development aims to tap the anticipated economic boom in the area where a third Thailand-Laos bridge would be built to link Chiang Khong with Huay Sai subdistrict in Laos.
”It takes only three hours for people who want to travel from Huay Sai to China’s border by car,” project manager Nivat Teeprueksa was quoted saying.
The eight storey hotel will be ready in two years.
