In an effort to boost the Chinese tourism market, 20 hotels, two attractions and a luxury shopping mall in Abu Dhabi have achieved the Welcome Chinese certification.
The event was recently organized by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), in partnership with China Tourism Academy (CTA). This recognition also encourages tourism players to embrace of initiatives in order to grow guest numbers and length of stay for visitors from China.
China is now Abu Dhabi’s fifth largest overseas market.
“We have all the ingredients to appeal to the Chinese market. As Chinese visitor travel habits become more sophisticated, so too are the efforts of the emirate’s tourism suppliers in meeting the opportunity,” said Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau director Mubarak Al Shamisi.
The Welcome Chinese certification is issued by CTA accreditation partner Select Holding to hospitality and attraction providers in 32 countries worldwide. Abu Dhabi is the first destination within the Middle East and North Africa region to participate in the programme. The emirate welcomed 120,350 guests from China in 2014 – an increase of 166% on the previous year.
The certified hotels, attractions and shopping experiences will receive increased visibility to the Chinese travel industry through a series of organised roadshows, participation in international travel fairs, on- and offline marketing initiatives, and a presence on the HyChinese CTA website and social media channels.
