Choice Hotels International has unveiled a new strategy to target the Chinese outbound market.
The US-based hotel franchiser has sealed a new global partnership with Ctrip, enabling Choice hotels to be promoted via China’s largest online travel site. And the company will also introduce a series of Chinese-friendly amenities to its hotels.
Under the new initiative, select Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites hotels will provide green tea at breakfast and in its lobbies, as well as offering free slippers. China UnionPay will also be accepted by these properties.
“China is, and will continue to be, a major market for inbound tourism in the next few years, and Choice is dedicated to anticipating the needs of guests traveling from abroad,” said Robert McDowell, Choice Hotels’ chief commercial officer. “With properties located near iconic US landmarks and major cities and amenities such as free Wi-Fi, Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites are great hotels for Chinese travellers exploring the US.
“Furthermore, our global partnership with Ctrip will expand Choice Hotels reach into the growing Chinese tourism market,” he added.
Choice is one of the world’s biggest hotel chains, with more than 6,400 properties worldwide. The vast majority of these are in North America.
